Ripley Howarth is an independent illustrator and animator based in Surrey, United Kingdom. He is currently pursuing his studies at the University for the Creative Arts, where he continues to develop his distinctive visual style and storytelling voice. Specializing in short animated horror films, his work explores themes of psychological isolation, drawing on both traditional and digital techniques to craft unsettling, atmospheric narratives. His growing body of work reflects a commitment to pushing the boundaries of independent animation through emotionally resonant and visually compelling storytelling.

THE STAR SPORE (2023)

Synopsis: THE STAR SPORE is a two sided horror story exploring the effects of a devastating alien entity on both the body and the consciousness of an unfortunate resident of Goldtown, Montana.

Information: This project took around 6 months to complete and takes inspiration from books like ‘Hellstar Remina’ and ‘Vermis’ as well as films like ‘The Thing’, ‘Nope’, ‘Lake Mungo’ and ‘Mad God’. This project is not as linear as Ripley’s previous projects instead focused on creating smoother animation and more atmospheric scenes.

SIX GUYS (2022)

Synopsis: Sam Morgan is plunged into a nightmarish reflection of his own mind. He must progress through winding vents, grotesque rooms and decaying memories to regain control over his now shattered mind. There are, however, six terrifying creatures which all intend to possess him. He must fend each off if he wishes to have a chance at returning to a point of clarity once again.

Trivia: SIX GUYS was created entirely by Ripley Howarth who, then aged 17, had received no formal training or education in story writing, sound & video editing or animation.

IT IS WATCHING (2025) – This project will release to the public after award season. It follows a paranoid woman as she attempts to go about her day whilst being deeply afraid of a potential watcher who she fears is following her.

At this time it has been officially selected for the following film festivals.

SLAUGHTERWOOD (2025) – Ripley’s most ambitious animated project. We follow a man referred to as “Cassidy” as he uncovers a horrifying truth surrounding a mysterious and disturbing massacre that took place 26 years earlier. Watch the descent into occult madness, step into a town forever cursed by eldritch gods and piece together the true events of the “Flowerman Killings“. The first part of the story, “Welcome to Camp Pinequill” will be released in Q4 2025.
